Welcome to the Christian Church of Wilkinsburg!

We are a "come as you are" kind of church, where folks from all walks of life truly welcome each other as brothers or sisters in Christ. We are a safe place in a world of hate and division, where we practice Jesus' radical Agape love for one another while celebrating our differences in race, politics and theology. We are a mission outpost making a real difference for Christ in our urban neighborhood. In fact, we are known for putting folks to work their first time with us! We are a place of hope and healing for the wounded, addicted, abused, grieving and discouraged within our church family and out on the streets where many will never walk into a church building. We are real - real people joyfully wrestling with how to be real Disciples of Christ in a world in desperate need. Come and see how we listen and act on God's Word for such a time as this.

Worship and Spiritual Growth

Deepening our walk with Jesus is at the heart of all we do. Our Sunday worship service at 10:30am is both in-person and livestreamed and centers around the Table of our Lord where everyone is welcome. In addition, throughout the year, we offer prayer vigils, shut-ins and retreats.

Bible Study

We open the Word of God every Wednesday afternoon at 5pm via which is led by our pastors. Click here to join us on Microsoft TEAMS.

Youth Ministry

Youth are a vital part of our ministry!  That is why the first Sunday of every month is Youth Sunday with youth participating in worship and often going out for recreation afterwards. Summer church camp and retreats through the year are wonderful opportunities for our youth to grow in the faith.

FAITHFUL CONVERSATIONS on ANTI-RACISM

Our church takes seriously our mission to be an inter-racial community which is why we offer monthly Faithful Conversations about racism and hatred with members of our church and other Disciple congregations.

Service Camps

Throughout the year our church is honored to host service camps for youth groups during the summer and college young adults on alternative breaks who work in the community and learn about racial disparities and urban poverty.

Santa's Open House

On the second Saturday of December we throw open our doors to our neighbors and invite families with children 12 years old and younger to come for a free photograph with Santa Claus, as well as free food, games, toys, books, stuffed animals and clothes.

Wilkinsburg Sanctuary Project for Peace and Project Peace

Our church takes the lead in organizing local churches and non-profits in responding to youth violence through community prayer vigils, Project Peace summer camp for youth and an annual Art and Talent Show for Peace.

Retreats and Books

Pastor Janet is trained and loves to lead retreats on spiritual growth. She has also written four books. One of those books, The 70 x 7 Forgiveness Challenge, has sold hundreds of copies by word of mouth and was the curriculum for her teaching on forgiveness in the local jail.

Building Rentals
